How Meu Recife knows what it publishes

Source hierarchy

The first choice is the primary source responsible for the fact: legislation on Planalto, an authority’s open dataset, a venue calendar, cinema programme, operator notice or official page. Independent journalism provides context; aggregators help discovery; user reports begin verification.

A commercial page alone does not prove something is best. An old page does not prove current operation. Where sources disagree, the portal should show the disagreement or avoid the claim.

Date and data status

Dynamic information should show an update time and understandable state: live, updated, cached, degraded or unavailable. One broken source should not silently freeze every other source.

Hours, price, film, tide, event and availability expire faster than history or an institutional address. Each data type needs its own refresh frequency and safe failure state.

Machine-assisted translation

News and events may arrive in Portuguese and receive assisted translation into Russian and English. Translation should preserve names, dates, amounts, addresses, quotations and the source link; it does not replace the original.

Automated content should be identifiable. Ambiguity, irony, legal language, safety warnings and sensitive information require human review. A correction to the original should trigger review of translations.

Use of AI

AI may assist translation, classification, summaries, search and draft preparation. It must not invent a source, price, rating, testimony or editorial conclusion, and must not autonomously publish high-risk content.

Assistant answers are generated for the user’s question, may be wrong and are not legal, medical, financial or safety advice. Regulated topics should prominently show boundaries and official sources.

• human review before sensitive editorial publication.

Images, maps and illustrations

Documentary photography should have known provenance and usage rights. A generated illustration or editorial composition should be labelled and never presented as a real record of a school, person, event or incident.

Maps support planning, but distance, accessibility, traffic and safety change. A route is guidance, not a guarantee of access or permission to enter a restricted area.

Reviews and recommendations

Meu Recife does not mass-import review text from external platforms. Stars alone are not enough to claim quality. A recommendation should explain its criterion, date, evidence, limitations and any commercial relationship.

Schools are not labelled best or worst without a comparable basis. School Census data describes what an institution declared for the reference year; current operation, places, price and transport require separate confirmation.

Corrections and history

A simple error may be fixed directly; a change affecting meaning, safety, reputation, price or a reader’s decision should receive a note with date and nature. Translations and the search index should update with the main text.

A correction request should identify the URL, passage, reason and source. The portal verifies evidence, records the decision and avoids silently erasing a public-interest history unless privacy, safety or law requires a different measure.

Advertising and independence

Advertising, affiliate links, exchanges, invitations and sponsored profiles should be labelled next to the content. Payment does not alter organic ranking, editorial conclusion or moderation outcome.

If a booking generates commission, disclose that relationship before the click. The newsroom must remain able to correct or legitimately criticise a partner.

Accountability

The portal should track unavailable sources, corrections, translation failures, moderation and technical incidents without exposing personal data. The method evolves with the product and each relevant revision receives a date.

A final policy still requires: formal identity of the responsible party, provider inventory, retention matrix, editorial owners and a public reporting calendar. Transparency starts by acknowledging those gaps.
